In almost 30 years working as a doctor,

Clare has learned so much from her patients about pain, courage, fragility and grace. It shaped her deeply – yet beneath the scrubs there was always a poet and a writer. An artist. A seeker with watercolour in her soul and a longing for a different kind of healing.

In the depths of burnout and disillusionment, Clare went to the Amazon jungle in search of something more. There, she saw Clarabelle – artwork weaving words and images to comfort, embolden and awaken others.

Clare (and Belle) live on a remote farm in New Zealand with her beloved, her four children, two dogs, some chickens and a LOT of tea. When she’s not painting, writing or wandering the land in gumboots, she’s dreaming up new ways to help people to remember their light.
